Our food system is sick to its core. Farmers are condemned for animal suffering
and pesticide use, discounters are driving small food retailers out of business,
and consumers think every price is too high.
In my diploma project, I interviewed farmers and questioned what the long-term
costs of permanently low prices are. The fruits of my labor are summarized
on a website prototype. The reality of life for farmers is presented in an accessible way
as a podcast. Please watch the video of the prototype.
It was important to me to let different farmers speak for themselves in order to
present a variety of perspectives. I interviewed an organic dairy farmer,
an agricultural farmer, and the owner of a conventional bull fattening farm.
Since podcasts are becoming increasingly popular and are well suited for conveying
even complex information,I relied solely on sound and typography. This site is about
listening and reflecting.
